DS Automobiles celebrates its second double historical title in Formula E

Berlin, 13th August 2020

The final round of season six of the 2019/2020 ABB FIA Formula E championship took place today at the Tempelhof Airport in Berlin and DS Automobiles enters in motorsport’s history with a new double title. Already winner in the two championships last year (Drivers and Teams), the Brand reinforces its domination over the eight other manufacturers involved in the 100% electric car competition, and demonstrates again its total mastery of this technology. Following Jean-Éric Vergne title’s last year, the Portuguese Antonio Félix Da Costa has been crowned Drivers’ champion at the end of a particularly intense final.

With four wins, nine podiums, five pole positions and three fastest laps in the race in eleven E-Prix, the DS E-TENSE FE20 outclassed the Nissan, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Porsche, Mahindra, PENSKE and NIO . Never a team (+ 77 points) and a driver (+ 71 points) had finished the season with such a gap on the competition and with such a high average of points per race (22.18 points per race for DS TECHEETAH) . The only manufacturer to have won E-Prix every year since 2016, DS Automobiles now holds the record for the number of titles in two seasons (2 Teams and 2 Drivers), the record for the number of pole positions (13) and front lines of the same team (2 with DS TECHEETAH).

I will never take this for granted and I am so eager for the next season to start because I want to feel like this again. It’s going to be a very tough fight in the season to come but we’ll give it a crack and if it doesn’t work out, we’ll have a go at it again. I want to say a huge thanks to the team, to Mark and Keith who have always believed in me, to David, Gigi, Clement, Lucas, my incredible mechanics Xavier, Seb, Ben, Javier, Martin our Chief Mechanic Pete and to the marketing team who have handled the media storm after the win and all other activations that we do for the fans and the partners. We have a dream team and I’m so happy to have won this championship with you all.”
